This restaurant is GREAT, the Food is Amazing,the Staff is always friendly and helpful and they always take Great Care in the Quality of there food and the Preparation ! I would Highly recommend this place to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

This place is one of my favorites. Their prime rib is the best I've ever had. The New York cheesecake is unbelievably good. Go see Lon & his staff!

The Blue Plate Special. A great country meal at a fair price. That's why this place was packed out at lunch.

Great food. The catfish is my latest favorite. Prime rib is in Dale's so it's a little salty but cooked really well. The salads and bread are heavenly! My friends love the pork chop! Great loaded baked potato too! We go every year when in town!

The food was excellent and the service was great. No extended seating time, food was served promptly and more importantly, fresh and hot. Our waitress exhibited the southern hospitality that one expect from fine dining. Yes, I highly recommend and will be returning in the not so distant future.

Could be better service they seem rude and like they hate there jobs. But the bread is really good.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. This is the best place on McRae to eat. The food is always really good, and the service is always just as good. The bathrooms are always clean. The atmosphere is always nice and cozy. I would definitely recommend.

There five star meal every day is awesome

One thing is for sure, you won't leave hungry or thirsty for that matter. Unlimited bread and oh so delicious butter. Just the right amount of sweet in the sweet tea and the friendliest waitress I have had the honor to be served by. I haven't even mentioned the entree which I loved so much I had to save some for later. If you're in the neighborhood or just passing through, stop by for some homemade dessert too. You will be glad you did.

Great tasting meal and great service

Great food, cozy place, great service. However, the men's bathroom was so disgusting that I almost wanted to leave before my meal. Looked like dry urine or dried snot on the wall above the urinal. I did not want to touch the sink, towel dispenser or door knob. When leaving, I had to wait too long to pay because the lady at the cash register had too many responsibilities. Someone should have helped her with to-go orders. If the bathrooms were clean, I would have no real problem with this restaurant.

Service was outstanding, food not so much... everyplace has a bad day we will go again...

For the price I was expecting the food to be wonderful, my steak had no flavor at all and my baked potatoes was not done.

It would have been nice if servers told of special for the night. The sign for daily special is on the wall on the right as you go in. We were seated immediately which was nice but since it was our first time there we did not know to look. Food was good and service was good.

The service was excellent and the Ribeyes almost melted in our mouths. Wonderful meal!

This place is so so so gross. The salad dressing is as thin as water so is the steak sauce. We ordered the steak plates and the steak was not trimmed of fat over half the steak was fat. I ordered my son chicken tenders the first came out still raw in the middle then they came out looking as if they had been dipped down inside the charcoal with pieces or charcoal all ocer. Don't eat here

Ummmm, someone need to teach there servers how to answer the phone! I work in customer service and always answer the phone politely! No matter how my day!! And after reading trough the other reviews I’m not the only one who think that the servers are ill! Get better training! And I know you don’t just have to please me, but I’m sure I’m not the only person that called tonight, and got the same response!

Only pass thru McRae about once a year but always try to make it when Southern Star is open! Best salad hands down and great spinach cheese dip as well!

Supposed by for some take out cheese cake! Absolutely the best ever made fresh.

Steak cooked to order. Very tender and tasty. Blondie Brownie topped with ice cream is delicious. They also have various cheese cakes for dessert. Their broccoli cheese soup and potato soups are really good.

Great food. Awesome staff. Well worth the side trip to eat there. Chicken was moist, tender and loaded with flavor. Salad was amazing and garden fresh.

The blue plate special is a good deal and the food is tasty. The cornbread is a little salty for my taste but everything else was good

Called in my order. Got home the salads were not there. The baked potato was burnt. The bread was hard and cold. The ribs were awesome tender and tasty.

I froze in there. It was sooooo cold. But the food was really good!!

First visit there, and it was WONDERFUL

Special was three over cooked sides and tough cubed steak. I had the cheeseburger which I shared with my husband because he couldn’t eat the special. Slow service but cheap food. It was my fault for going there. Sometimes a parking lot full of service trucks at lunch time is a good sign of a great place to eat but not here.

I love southern star for there great dlacken grill ed chicken salads.
